How blind we are

Sun Sep 13, 2009, 9:42 AM
I know not much, except your friendship

Took Henry out for his usual walk this morning, as normal I meet a few people with thier dogs, all very very friendly, but this morning was quite different..... Henry scooted off seeing a blck lab ahead, usual greetings were exchanged, fellow to fellow, as I made my way to the labs owner to say good morning, (now before I go further I need to say that where I walk Henry, is in a country park, reasonable paths but far from the best, level footing) as I approached the young lady I noticed that she had a white ball stick, as in a blind persons assistance, not wanting to draw attantion, I acknowledge the normal friendly greeting, which was of course responded to in the normal friendly way, so I stopped to have a chat. WOW she was a very pretty, early 30's I would hazzard, the conversation went forward, she said how she was meant to meet some friends but they had not turned up, but she often came here for a walk, how she loved nature, wild life and all that goes with, very soon she indicated how she does but would love to take photographs, she already has a small camwera and said she has been quite sucessfull, LOL the original point and shoot! WOW, so we went on to talk about what camera she she buy next, the photos she had taken and of a dragon fly that landed on her leg, I then got her to take a photo of me with my camera [link] , she used the sound of my voice to locate where to point the camera. From there we walked, she enjoyed and I had a great time, yes pointing out wild life and wild flowers, from reasonable paths I we walked to wooded paths, through to rough paths, up and down small hills, using very crude wooden steps on the way, and you know what I was the one to stumble LOL. She was fascinated to feel the flowers and plants I picked for her, experiencing many things she had not seen before, through her blindness. She told me of her australian origns and how she had been blind since she was 6 years old, and a recent holiday she had had, going back to australia, where she had gone scubba diving and tried to get a motor launch licence buy conning the inspecter with some friends. Then on our way I spotted this very unusual tre, the likes of which I had never seen before, I managed to get some leaves on a twig, along with some peeling bark, let let inspect, guess what my ignorance was stripped naked, bty her almost jumping with joy at the fact I had found a eucaliptus tree that had seeded it self in the wilds, a native of australia, not found in the wild here. Well I a still reeling from this walk, my mind rolling, this person, lacking what so many of us take for and enjoying every minute, LOL I just long to bump into her again.

Hey David, thanks again for the support, I understand that you do prints on canvases for a living? I think I may be interested in this for some work of mine.

Hi Phil. Yes that is true..... Mine are different from every one elses, well I should say better! My canvas's are all produced on the finest Swiss, cotton canvas available, or you can have them as ';photoprints' ie paper based prints, laminated with a matt or gloss seal, these are very different to anything else you may of seen. None of my products are 'stretched' all are mounted to board and made up. can do almost any size you like up yo 60" x 40" - 1500mm x 1000mm, all by 38mm deep. from there on I can make shapes also, so long as they have any combinatioon of straight sides and external corners only, ie triangles, octagons, polygons etc.

Where abouts are you based, I am in Hoddesdon pc EN11, north of London a couple of miles outside the M25.

There will be a couple of web sites appearing shortly with comprehensive details but if you go here you will find an embriontic developement stage [link]

regards
Dave

Wow, I am impressed, that sounds excellent!

I am the opposite end of the country nearly, Central Scotland pc EH54, bang in the middle of Edinburgh, and Glasgow.

The website tells me you do everything, which I can't complain with. All I need to know now are the prices I guess. I have only used one other printing service for my photography so far, and they are know as Digitalab. They seem to be pretty great at what they do as well, and when I ordered a select few prints in small sizes to see what the quality, and delivery were like with them, I wasn't disappointed, great customer service as well.
Have you heard of this company at all? They are based in Newcastle if I remember correctly.

Thanks for the quick response.
